After December 31, absolutely no more visas will be distributed to winners of the DV-2013 lottery.<\/p>\n<h2>What Was the DV-2013?<\/h2>\n<p>The DV-2013 Lottery\u2019s registration period took place in October of 2011, at the end of that registration period no one else was allowed to register for the lottery.<\/p>\n<p>On May 1 of 2012, the winners of the DV-2013 Lottery were announced and registrants were able to check their status on the official Diversity Visa website.<\/p>\n<p>During the summer of 2012, the Kentucky Consular Center began accepting applications for visas associated with the 2013 Green Card Lottery.<\/p>\n<h2>How to Apply for a Visa?<\/h2>\n<p>Winners of the Green Card Lottery will then contact the Kentucky Consular Center (KCC) where they will officially apply for a visa.<\/p>\n<p>An immigration visa will allow a foreign national to come to a port of entry in the United States and apply for entry into the country.<\/p>\n<p>A visa does not necessarily mean that the holder has an inalienable right to living in the United States, however, it is an important step in the Process.<\/p>\n<p>Upon entering the United States, immigrants will then be considered Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) and they will have the right to live and work in the United States indefinitely.<\/p>\n<h2>Are There Still Unclaimed Visas?<\/h2>\n<p>The Green Card Lottery has a limit to how many visas will be given out for a particular session. The cap is nominally set at 50,000.<\/p>\n<p>Applicants can check if there are any remaining visas by checking the State Department\u2019s Visa Bulletin.
